Hua Hin and Cha-am not only offer a serene getaway from the city or a peaceful holiday, it has been one of the golf’s premier destinations in Thailand. As golf has been increasing in popularity, there is a great development on the course, service, amenities as well as accommodation on the course.

The courses here tend to get busy over the weekends and national holidays as a well as the high season during December to March which the weather is the coolest in a year.

There are 10 quality courses to choose from and all are within 30 minutes drive from the town centre and some are located further but still reachable for one-day’s play. The courses are designed with high quality, challenging layouts and breathtaking view. Most of them are Championship categories and there are also tournaments held at them.

Open since October 2008, Banyan Golf Club is built amidst a pineapple plantation. The course features stunning mountain and ocean views from most of the holes. It has also won the Best New Golf Course in Asia 2009 voted by Asian Golf Magazine readers.

Each hole has 6 tee boxes which make the course challenging, depending on each golfers abilities and tee selection. The course is strategically placed with water hazards, waste bunkers and sand traps are spread out throughout. There is a significant use of pineapple groves far off most fairways making local fruits come into play. The signature 15th hole is a 139 yard par 3 with panoramic ocean views of the Gulf of Thailand. Hole 12, a par 5 monster is 610 yards, all uphill, makes it impossible to reach for even the most accomplished of golfers. The Banyan Golf Club has a contemporary Thai style club house including full stocked pro shop, locker rooms and international restaurant. The Mulligan's pub with the views over the golf course and mountains is an ideal for cold drinks while watching the sunset. The Club also features 4 spa suites on top of the club house.

Black Mountain Golf Course is set in a valley and maintains many original features of the land; trees, creeks and a small black rock mountain as it has been transformed from lush jungle and pineapple plantations.

It offers generous fairways for the shorter hitters that become narrower for the longer tee shots. The greens are large, coming with many pin positions, different levels of difficulty. The course is protected by white sand sculptured bunkers. Seashore Paspalum and Tifeagle Bermuda grasses are used. Black Mountain Golf Course features a clubhouse with spectacular panoramic view of the golf course. Its facilities include fine restaurant, golf shop and locker room.

Imperial Lake View was designed by 2 well-known golf course architects, Roger Packard and Ronald Fream. This Championship course offers 4 challenging courses. This is the first 36-hole golf course in Hua Hin and Cha-am with the concept "1 Course in 4 styles".

It consists of: Course A - Mountain (3,432 yards Par 36) has undulating surfaces and various types of trees providing breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains afar. Course B - Lake (3,483 yards Par 36) has refreshing atmosphere surrounded by bodies of water provides relaxing play. Yet, it has some excitement from the challenges of water dividing the course.

Course C - Desert (3,417 yards Par 36), known as Arizona style course, is designed to be an adventure with the arid landscape of the desert. Golfers will be challenged with cacti, rocks and bunkers.

Course D - Links (3,859 yards Par 36) is a new concept designed to combine the open spaces and windy expanses of a Links course. This course will entice those who prefer long drives and thoughtful planning.

The Championship course covers 14,000 acres on the eastern peninsula in Petchburi Province, 40 km from Hua Hin. It is surrounded by mountain ranges, forests and lakes. The first course was designed by Thai golf course architect, Cherd Bunyaratavej. The second course was designed with front 9 holes by Jack Nicklaus and another 18 hole course was designed by Greg Norman.

This course is an undulating course with many trees and bamboo forests lining the fairways. The greens can be quite tricky. There are several natural lakes forming the basis for water hazard in 6 holes. The Jack Nicklaus 9 hole signature course, From the Championship tees the new par 36 Nicklaus course stretches over 3,600 yards. It offers some of the most dramatic elevation changes in Thailand. Each hole presents risk versus reward options and playable for golfers of all levels.

Majestic Creek Country Club is set in the hills separating Thailand and Burma in the west of the country. It is voted by German golf magazine as a 5-star international golf course. A 7,123 yard layout features well-designed challenges. Almost all the holes have water hazards including lakes and streams as well as several bunkers.

This 18 hole course, formerly known as Hua Hin Seoul CC is located on the seaside and surrounded by forested hills on 3 sides. It was designed in 1992 by American renowned expert Robert McFarland, the only golf course in the country that faces to the ocean and surround by the rolling hills. And you'll experience more of paradise as you play in your own private golf course just next too the private beach.

The course offers a very challenging play with a large angle of elevation on most of the holes. The greens are very fast and feature some hidden difficult slopes which add to challenge in making par. The accommodation is available nearby.

Palm Hills Golf was first open in 1991 and was the venue for inaugural Thailand World ProAm tournament in 1993. It is located in the northern Hua Hin, near Hua Hin airport. The course is laid out on a long strip of undulating terrain with fair amount of water hazards. It is lined with hundreds palm trees and has plenty of hillside lies. The play on the top of the mountain provides fantastic views overlooking the Gulf of Thailand and Hua Hin. The beautiful landscape is even more striking and scented with the fragrance of the blooms at certain times of the year.

In addition of the golf course, there are 2 clubhouses complete with sport facilities and excellent services. One includes an Olympic swimming pool and outdoor tennis courts, indoor badminton court, squash, table tennis and snooker. The other is more dedicated to golfers with more facilities and amenities to serve the golfers.

Situated only 5 minutes from the town centre, Royal Hua Hin Golf Club was opened in 1924, the first golf course to be constructed in Thailand. Its location provides delightful views of the Gulf of Thailand, rocky hills and Hua Hin as well as the old Bangkok - Singapore railway station lying next to the clubhouse. Some parts of the course provide the view of a Thai temple.

This 18 hole course was heavily renovated in 1980’s which brought it to the international standard. All fairways are lined with tree, free of water hazards and many of the greens are protected by being slightly elevated. Mature trees lined fairways make many nice shaded lies. A remodeled club house makes for a nice 19th hole and to reflect on the golfers who have passed through the doors during the 80 years that Royal Hua Hin has been around.

18 hole Sawang Resort and Golf Club covers 900 acres and sits amongst the rolling hills in the private valley of Khao Yoi, Phetchburi. It takes less than 2 hours drive on a highway from Bangkok. The course is supervised by Japanese architect. There are a plenty of water hazards with tree lined holes. The whole course is surrounded by fresh water lakes. There are a few surprises for the lower handicapper wanting some challenge and a fair test for all classes of players.

Accommodation is provided on the property. The resort incorporates a large clubhouse blended in harmony with the rolling hills.

Springfield Royal Country Club has been the venue for many major championships including Thailand Open and is rated as one of the best Hua Hin golf course. The course designer, Jack Nicklaus does not disappoint you with the well-thought design. It can be enjoyed by golfers of all standards. The course has 27 holes, par 72 and the length of 7,063 yards with 5 set of tees to play from and varying levels of difficulty. The greens can be fast but always are true. It consists of 4 courses; the mountain course, the lake course, the valley course and the fourth course is being designed and constructed.

The captivating view of the Gulf of Thailand and breathtaking terrain makes this course hard to be missed. The clubhouse is one of the best in the area and a great place to relax. It is built on elevated ground providing long lasting memory.
